Electrical Requirements

Three systems need power: the iron filter, the water softener, and the UV sterilizer. You need 3 available 120V outlets in your utility area. The acid neutralizer and sediment filter are fully passive.

Drain Requirements

The iron filter and water softener need drain lines for backwash and regeneration. Route 1/2" tubing to a floor drain, utility sink, or outside (max 20 feet each).

Space Planning

Plan for roughly 6-8 linear feet of wall space. The three tanks (iron, acid neutralizer, softener) are 10-13 inches in diameter. The UV sterilizer mounts horizontally on the wall. The Big Blue housing is compact and mounts vertically.

Time Estimate

Sediment Filter Every 3-6 months

Replace the 5-micron cartridge when flow drops or it looks dirty. Unscrew the housing with the included wrench, swap the cartridge, and reinstall. Takes 5 minutes.

Iron / Sulfur AIO Filter Minimal

The Fleck 2510AIO backwashes automatically on a schedule you set during installation. Katalox-Light media lasts 7-10+ years under normal conditions. No media changes unless iron levels are extreme.

Acid Neutralizer Every 12-18 months

Add calcite through the fillport when the media level drops to about 2/3 full. No valve removal needed. Calcite is available in 50 lb bags.

Water Softener Monthly salt check

Keep the brine tank at least 1/4 full with salt. Most homes go through a 40 lb bag every 4-8 weeks. The Fleck 5600SXT regenerates automatically based on your usage.

UV Sterilizer Annual lamp swap

Replace the UV lamp once a year (the controller counts down lamp hours). Clean the quartz sleeve during replacement. Replacement lamps available here.

Start with a water test. Most wells in the US have some combination of iron, low pH, hardness, and bacteria. This 5-stage system covers all four of those problems plus sediment filtration. If your water test comes back with all or most of these issues (which is the most common scenario), this is the system to get. Call Aidan at 800-460-5810 with your test results and he will confirm whether this is the right fit or if you can skip a stage.

Get a lab water test. Our well water test kit covers all the key parameters: iron, pH, hardness, manganese, bacteria, and more. Once you have the results, call us and we will walk through them with you. If you already have test results from your home inspection or county health department, those work too.

Maybe not. If your water test shows no iron, you can skip the iron filter. If pH is already neutral, you can skip the acid neutralizer. But most wells we see have at least 3-4 of these problems. This package is built around what most wells actually need, and it saves $450 compared to buying each system individually. This system is sized for a typical home with 2-4 bathrooms and 2-5 people. The 48,000 grain softener and 1.5 cubic foot acid neutralizer handle normal household flow without oversizing. If you have 5+ bathrooms or very high water demand, call us and we will recommend a larger configuration. If you have a smaller home (1-2 bathrooms), this system still works perfectly.
