This Privacy Policy explains how Mid Atlantic Water ("Mid Atlantic Water," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares your personal information when you visit midatlanticwater.net (the "Site"), call or message us, purchase a product, or order a water test kit. We are a family-run, online-only water treatment company. We do not install equipment; we ship products nationwide and provide expert guidance by phone, email, text, and chat.

1. Information We Collect

Order and account information. When you make or attempt a purchase, we collect your name, billing and shipping address, email address, phone number, and payment information (such as credit card details, Apple Pay, or PayPal). Payment card data is processed by our payment providers; we do not store full card numbers ourselves.

Information you give us when you contact us. When you call, text, email, or use our on-site chat, we collect the contents of that communication and your contact details. We use this to answer questions, recommend the right system, and support you after the sale.

Phone call recordings. We record and transcribe inbound and outbound phone calls for quality, training, order accuracy, and support. If you do not want to be recorded, please tell us at the start of the call or contact us another way (email, text, or chat).

Water test information. If you order a water test kit, we share the information needed to fulfill and process your test with our independent testing laboratory partner (see Section 3), and we receive your water test results. We may use those results, and information you share about your water, to recommend appropriate treatment. We treat your specific test results as confidential and use them to help you, not to sell to you aggressively.

Device and usage information. When you browse the Site, we automatically collect information about your device and activity, including IP address, browser type, time zone, referring and exit pages, the pages and products you view, and how you interact with the Site. We collect this using cookies, log files, pixels, tags, and web beacons.

Session activity. We use session-replay and heatmap tools that record on-site interactions such as mouse movements, clicks, scrolling, and page navigation, in order to understand and improve the Site. These tools are configured to mask sensitive input fields.

We refer to all of the above collectively as "Personal Information."

2. How We Use Your Personal Information

We use Personal Information to:

• Fulfill your orders, including processing payment, arranging shipping, fulfilling water test kits, and sending order confirmations and invoices.
• Communicate with you about orders, questions, support, water test results, system sizing, installation guidance, and maintenance or replenishment reminders.
• Provide customer support and expert consultation by phone, text, email, and chat.
• Detect and prevent fraud and protect the security of the Site.
• Analyze and improve the Site, our products, and our marketing.
• Send you marketing communications about our products and services, where permitted. Marketing emails include an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time.

3. How We Share Your Personal Information

We share Personal Information only with service providers and partners who help us run the business, and only as needed. We do not authorize our fulfillment partners or independent water testing laboratory to use your information for their own marketing. These providers include:

• Shopify, which powers our online store and checkout. See https://www.shopify.com/legal/privacy.
• Payment processors (such as Shopify Payments, PayPal, and Apple Pay) to process payments.
• Shipping carriers and fulfillment partners, so that orders can be shipped to you.
• Our independent water testing laboratory partner when you order a water test kit, so the kit can be sent and your sample processed, and results returned.
• Analytics providers, including Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, and Microsoft Clarity, to understand Site usage.
• Advertising and attribution providers, including Google (Google Ads and Google Merchant Center) and other advertising and measurement platforms, to measure and deliver advertising.
• Reviews provider, to request and display product reviews.

To measure advertising and reach past or prospective customers, we may share hashed (pseudonymized) identifiers such as a hashed email address or phone number with advertising platforms like Google. This lets those platforms match you to an account they already have for advertising and measurement. Under some state laws this is considered "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising, and you have the right to opt out (see Section 6).

We may also disclose Personal Information to comply with applicable law, respond to a subpoena, warrant, or other lawful request, enforce our terms, or protect our rights, property, or safety and those of others. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, Personal Information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

We do not sell your Personal Information for money.

4. Advertising and Analytics

We use your information to deliver and measure advertising and to understand how our marketing performs. You can manage advertising preferences through these resources:

5. Text Messages (SMS)

If you provide your phone number and consent to text messages, we may send you order updates and, where you have opted in, marketing texts. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out of marketing texts at any time by replying STOP, or opt out of all non-essential texts by contacting us. Consent to marketing texts is not a condition of purchase.

6. Your Privacy Rights

US state privacy rights. Depending on your state of residence (including California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and others with comparable laws), you may have the right to:

• Know and access the Personal Information we hold about you;
• Request correction of inaccurate Personal Information;
• Request deletion of your Personal Information;
• Opt out of "sharing" of your Personal Information for cross-context behavioral (targeted) advertising;
• Receive a copy of your Personal Information in a portable format; and
• Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would require a separate right to limit under California law.

EU, UK, and other international residents. If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another region with comparable law, you have the right to access, correct, update, or delete the Personal Information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. We process your information to perform our contract with you (for example, to fulfill your order) and to pursue our legitimate business interests described above. Your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

7. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no industry-standard response to this signal, so we do not currently respond to it. Where required by law, we honor opt-out preference signals such as the Global Privacy Control (GPC) as a valid request to opt out of "sharing" for targeted advertising.

8. Data Retention

We retain Order Information and related records for as long as needed to provide our products and services, comply with our legal, accounting, tax, and warranty obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. We retain call recordings, transcripts, and support communications for quality, training, and recordkeeping. You may ask us to delete your information, subject to the exceptions allowed by law.

9. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your Personal Information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children's Privacy

The Site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us Personal Information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
