Order Your Kit
The lab ships the test kit to your door with free shipping. It contains everything you need to collect a water sample from your well: sample bottles, instructions, a sample information card, a plastic sample bag, a cold pack, a padded foil return pouch, and a prepaid FedEx return label.
Collect Your Sample
Follow the instructions to collect the sample at a cold-water tap. Sampling takes about 5 minutes. Fill the containers as directed.
Mail It Back
Drop the prepaid package at a FedEx location the same day you collect. The prepaid label ships it overnight, which matters because bacteria samples are time sensitive.
Get Results + Expert Review
Your independent lab report arrives by email about 5 business days after the lab receives your sample. Then Aidan personally reviews your results and contacts you with a clear, specific recommendation: what equipment you need, what size, and in what order to install it.
What you get beyond the lab report
We're a water treatment company that's been solving well water problems for over 30 years. The testing is done by an independent, ISO/IEC 17025-accredited lab in SimpleLab's network. Then we tell you exactly how to fix what the lab found, and we have the equipment and expertise to back it up.
Bacteria
2E. coli and Total Coliform (presence/absence testing). EPA recommends testing a private well for total coliform every year.
Method: SM 9223B
Heavy Metals & Trace Metals
18Arsenic, Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, Chromium (Total), Copper, Uranium, Selenium, Antimony, Barium, Beryllium, Cobalt, Molybdenum, Nickel, Silver, Thallium, Tin, Vanadium. Detected at parts-per-billion levels. EPA's drinking water limits for some sit at that level: 10 parts per billion for arsenic, 30 for uranium.
Method: EPA 200.8 ICP-MS (mass spectrometry)
Metals & Minerals
11Iron, Manganese, Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium, Sodium, Aluminum, Zinc, Strontium, Lithium, Titanium.
Method: EPA 200.7 ICP-OES (optical emission spectrometry)
Water Properties
6pH, Hardness, Alkalinity, TDS, Turbidity, Conductivity. Low pH can corrode metal plumbing. These numbers shape which treatment fits your water.
Methods: EPA 150.1, SM 2130B, SM 2320B, SM 2340B, SM 2510B
Inorganics (Anions)
8Nitrate, Nitrite, Chloride, Fluoride, Sulfate, Boron, Phosphorus, Silica. Penn State's water lab says nitrate may be elevated near intensively farmed land or near crowded or poorly working septic systems. The EPA nitrate limit is 10 mg/L. This test measures sulfate, not hydrogen sulfide gas (the rotten egg smell), which needs its own test.
Methods: EPA 300.0, EPA 200.7
Calculated Values
8Grains per Gallon, Langelier Saturation Index, Hardness (Calculated), Bicarbonate, Carbonate, Chloride-to-Sulfate Ratio, Sodium Adsorption Ratio, Expanded Hardness. These eight values are calculated from the measured lab results.
A lab report on its own gives you data. We give you a plan.
Aidan Personally Reviews Every Result
When your independent lab report comes back, it goes straight to Aidan, one of our owners and a water treatment specialist with over 30 years of hands-on experience. The testing is done by an independent lab, not by us. Aidan reads every number, knows what matters and what doesn't, and creates a specific recommendation for your situation.
You Get a Clear, Specific Recommendation
Not a generic FAQ page. Not a chatbot. A direct message from Aidan telling you:
- → Which contaminants need treatment (and which are fine)
- → The exact equipment model and size for your home
- → The correct installation order (it matters)
- → Estimated cost and what maintenance to expect
- → What your plumber will need to install it
If Your Water Tests Clean, We Tell You That
We'd rather earn your trust by being honest than sell you equipment you don't need. If your results come back clean, Aidan will tell you exactly that. No upselling, no fear tactics, no "just in case" recommendations. Plenty of wells have perfectly good water. If yours is one of them, you'll know for sure. That peace of mind is worth the test by itself.
