Not sure the WX-203 is the right size?Text me your pump's horsepower, its gallons per minute if you know it, and your pressure switch setting (30/50 or 40/60). I'll tell you whether the WX-203 fits, or whether the WX-202, WX-205 or WX-250 is the better tank.
✓32 gallon stand-style well pressure tank, 47 inches tall (including the stand) and 15 inches across

✓High-strength steel shell with Amtrol's Tuf-Kote HG Blue finish
✓Factory pre-charged by Amtrol to 38 PSI
The tank tee kit: TFP3-RV fitting package
✓Double-tapped brass cross that threads onto the tank
✓Pressure switch (set at 30/50 or 40/60 PSI; text Aidan before you order to confirm which)
✓Pressure gauge, 0 to 100 PSI

Not included
✕The pump, and the pipe, unions or adapters that connect the tee to your house plumbing
✕Thread sealant or PTFE tape for assembling the kit
✕Wire and electrical parts for the pressure switch
The tee kit ships unassembled, and the box has little or no install paperwork: manufacturers expect a plumber to put it together. Our guides and Aidan fill that gap. Questions about the parts: text Aidan at 443-277-2204.
Amtrol 7-year limited warranty from the date of purchase; read Amtrol's policy on online purchases in the Warranty and Returns tab
Tank figures are from Amtrol's submittal data (MC4400, 08/25) and spec card (MC7025, 03/26). Drawdown is the water the tank delivers between the pump shutting off and starting again.
We recommend a plumber
We recommend having a plumber install it; Aidan supports your plumber by phone at 800-460-5810. If you'd rather do it yourself, text Aidan at 443-277-2204 with any questions.
A plumber typically takes 1 to 3 hours to swap a pressure tank in an open basement, about $200 to $500 in labor (our pressure tank cost guide). Crawl spaces, galvanized pipe that needs adapters, or a tank that has to come up stairs push it toward the top of that range.
What the job involves
✓Turning off the power to the pump and draining the old tank
✓Assembling the tee kit with thread sealant and threading the brass cross onto the tank's stainless connection
✓Connecting the line from the well pump and the line to the house
✓Wiring the pressure switch to the pump circuit
✓Checking the tank's air pre-charge with the tank empty, before the system is filled
Amtrol's own placement rules (installation manual MC10185)
✓Mount it vertically only
✓Protect it from freezing, and keep it out of direct sunlight
✓Do not put it where a leak could damage the floor or the rooms below; where that is a risk, Amtrol calls for a drip pan piped to a drain
✓Install the relief valve at the tank's connection to the system piping
✓Amtrol says a licensed professional should install it and check the system once a year
Water treatment equipment (iron filters, softeners, neutralizers) goes after the pressure tank. Step by step: our complete pressure tank guide.
How long it lasts
It depends on the tank, how much water you use and how hard the tank works. In Aidan's experience, new tanks have failed within months and others have run 20 years or more. Amtrol's limited warranty is 7 years.
Checks
✓Amtrol says a licensed professional should check the whole system, including the tank, once a year
✓The air pre-charge is checked only with the tank empty and the system off
✓If the tank has lost its air, Amtrol says not to add air or adjust it: a loss of air can mean internal corrosion, and re-pressurizing it could make the tank rupture. That is a call for your plumber
Signs the tank is failing
✕Pressure that rises and falls in the shower, or a pump that starts and stops every few seconds
✕A dull thud when you knock on the top of the tank: water has pushed into the air chamber and the tank is waterlogged. A waterlogged tank cannot be fixed; it is replaced
✓Seven years from the date of purchase on Well-X-Trol residential well tanks
✓For the original purchaser or first user; it cannot be transferred
✓Covers defects in material and workmanship at the time of manufacture
✓Does not cover labor, shipping, removal or installation costs, property damage, freezing, shipping damage by others, or improper installation or maintenance
✓Every claim is approved solely by Amtrol, must be made within 30 days of the failure, and needs proof of purchase, proof of home ownership, and the model and serial number
✓A replacement carries the balance of the original warranty

"Mid Atlantic Water was great to deal with. I highly recommend them, great pricing, fast shipping and awesome communication. I called before ordering to discuss the well tank, iron filter and softener that I was going to purchase. Aidan answered all my questions, confirmed my research and choices where good and that the equipment would handle and correct the condition of my water." ★★★★★

Well Water Pressure Tank: The Complete Guide (Sizing, PSI, When to Replace)
The Well-X-Trol WX-203 and Its Tank Tee Kit
A 32 gallon Amtrol stand tank, 47 x 15 inches, with the brass tee kit that connects it
The pressure tank holds a cushion of air above a butyl diaphragm. As you run water, that air pushes water out to the house, so the well pump does not start every time a tap opens. The WX-203 holds 32 gallons and delivers 9.9 gallons between pump starts on a 30/50 switch (Amtrol's spec card). Amtrol's sizing table picks it for a pump up to 3/4 HP at about 10 gallons per minute on 30/50, or about 7 on 40/60. In Aidan's words, "the 203 is the tank we recommend for most households."
It ships with the TFP3-RV tank tee kit: the double-tapped brass cross that threads onto the tank's stainless connection, a pressure switch set at 30/50 or 40/60, a 0 to 100 PSI gauge, a relief valve, a stop and waste valve, a boiler drain and brass nipples. The kit ships unassembled. Amtrol pre-charges the tank to 38 PSI.
We recommend having a plumber install it, and Aidan supports your plumber by phone. Amtrol's 7-year limited warranty and its policy on tanks bought online are in the Warranty and Returns tab, in Amtrol's words.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. The tank is Amtrol's Well-X-Trol WX-203, the 32 gallon stand model: 47 inches tall including the stand, 15 inches across, with a 1 inch stainless steel connection. It comes with the TFP3-RV tank tee kit, a brass fitting package made for Well-X-Trol tanks.
Amtrol gives Well-X-Trol residential tanks a 7-year limited warranty from the date of purchase, and approves every claim itself. Its Internet Sales Policy says: "Any Well-X-Trol item purchased from an e-commerce source is ineligible for manufacturer support; including, but not limited to: warranty coverage, product registration, shipping damage claims, product returns, technical assistance and promotional awards." Read plainly, that includes a tank bought from a website like ours. Call or text us first with any warranty question: we will tell you whether the claim is handled through Mid Atlantic Water or the manufacturer, where the tank must go, and what shipping requirements and charges apply.
Tank size comes from your pump's flow and your pressure switch setting. Amtrol's sizing table picks the WX-203 for a pump up to 3/4 HP delivering about 10 gallons per minute on a 30/50 switch, or about 7 gallons per minute on 40/60 or 50/70. For a pump over 3/4 HP, Amtrol's table starts at the bigger 22 inch tanks. In Aidan's words, "the 203 is the tank we recommend for most households." Text him your pump's horsepower, its flow if you know it, and your switch setting at 443-277-2204. More: what size pressure tank do I need.
The pressure switch in the TFP3-RV kit comes set at 30/50 or 40/60 PSI. To confirm which one ships with your order, text Aidan at 443-277-2204 before you order. Whichever you use, the tank's air pre-charge is set to 2 PSI below the switch's cut-in. More: pressure switch settings.
It is a package. In October 2026 two online supply stores listed the WX-203 tank alone at $524.53 (SupplyHouse) and the TFP3-RV kit at $112.73 (Fresh Water Systems): about $637 before shipping. Our $1,295 includes the tank, the kit, free shipping to the lower 48, and Aidan's help sizing it and supporting your plumber. If your plumber supplies the tank instead, our cost guide puts that at $800 to $1,800 installed.
Amtrol's rule is 2 PSI below the pressure switch's cut-in (the pressure where the pump starts), measured with the tank empty of water and the system off. Amtrol pre-charges the WX-203 to 38 PSI at the factory, which matches a 40/60 switch. On a 30/50 switch the same rule gives 28 PSI. Amtrol's manual says only licensed professionals should check, adjust or re-charge the pre-charge, and never to add air to a tank that has lost its charge, so that is a job for your plumber.
It depends on the tank, how much water you use and how hard it works. In Aidan's experience, new tanks have failed within months and others have run 20 years or more. Amtrol's limited warranty is 7 years. When the diaphragm fails, the tank becomes waterlogged (a dull thud when you knock on the top, or pressure that rises and falls) and is replaced, because a waterlogged tank cannot be fixed.
Amtrol rates the Well-X-Trol for indoor or outdoor installation. Its manual says not to expose it to freezing temperatures or install it in direct sunlight, so an outdoor tank needs protection from both.
Yes. Amtrol pre-charges it to 38 PSI at the factory. Your plumber checks the pre-charge with a tire gauge on the air valve before the system is filled, with the tank empty, and sets it to 2 PSI below your switch's cut-in.
Both are 15 inches across. The WX-203 is 47 inches tall, holds 32 gallons and delivers 9.9 gallons between pump starts on a 30/50 switch. The WX-202 is 32 inches tall, holds 20 gallons and delivers 6.2 gallons, for about 5 gallons per minute on a 30/50 switch in Amtrol's table. The WX-203 package is $1,295 and the WX-202 package $1,095. For a low ceiling with more drawdown, the WX-205 is 30 inches tall and 22 inches across, 34 gallons, $1,695.
We recommend one. The old tank is drained and removed, the tee kit is assembled and threaded onto the tank, the pump line and the house line are connected, and the pressure switch is wired to the pump circuit. A plumber typically takes 1 to 3 hours for a swap in an open basement. Aidan supports your plumber by phone at 800-460-5810. If you'd rather do it yourself, you can; text Aidan at 443-277-2204 with any questions.
