Downflow/Backwashing Acid Neutralizers

Non-Backwashing upflow pH acid neutralizer tankThe downflow calcite acid neutralizer is an effective, economical and safe way to raise the ph in your household water supply. Backwashing acid neutralizers are used when there's sediment or heavy minerals (like iron) in your water that can foul your filter media.

There are two types of acid neutralizers available: the upflow (or non-backwashing) acid neutralizer, and the automatic electronically controlled backwashing neutralizer. Want to learn the difference? Read our Complete Guide To Acid Neutralizers.

Our company, Mid Atlantic Water, sells lots of downflow (or backwashing) acid neutralizers because they are easy to install. They will need a backwash drain and electricity if you have an electronic head.

We typically recommend the backwashing neutralizer to all of our clients nationwide if they have iron in their water supply. If iron isn't present in your water supply, look into installing a non-backwashing type neutralizer.
