Not sure which arsenic system you need? I'm the guy in the videos. Arsenic treatment is sized from a lab number, not a guess, and the order matters: iron and pH have to be handled before the arsenic stage. Send me your well test and I'll tell you exactly which system fits, or that you don't need one yet.

A resin change-out is a 1-2 hour DIY job. No special tools - a wet/dry shop vac and a media funnel make it easy. We'll walk you through it on the phone, step by step.
Keep the resin moist and away from salt. Store the sealed box in a cool, dry place until install day. Avoid contact with salts or salty water (it prematurely exhausts the chloride-form resin), and never let loaded resin fully dry out.
  1. Put the system in bypass and relieve pressure at a downstream faucet.
  2. Disconnect the control valve from the plumbing and unscrew it from the tank.
  3. Remove the old resin: tip and pour the tank, or vacuum it out with a wet/dry shop vac. Keep the distributor tube in place (plug its top so media can't fall in).
  4. Rinse the tank and inspect the distributor tube and baskets for damage.
  5. Pour in the new ASM-10-HP through a media funnel, filling to the same level as the original charge (your tank's rated cubic feet).
  6. Rinse the valve threads and o-ring, then reinstall the control valve.
  7. Slowly re-pressurize, check for leaks, and flush a downstream faucet for 10-15 minutes to clear media fines.
  8. Reset the metered service reminder (if your valve has one) and log the install date.
Need a hand? Call or text Aidan at 800-460-5810 before you start. He'll confirm the fill volume for your tank, the steps for your specific valve, and local disposal guidance for the spent resin.
  • 3-7 years typical Normal replacement window. Actual life depends on your raw arsenic level, daily gallons, pH, silica, and sulfate. Higher arsenic and heavier water use mean earlier replacement.
  • Annual test shows arsenic rising The definitive signal. Test treated water yearly at a certified lab. When arsenic starts creeping up in the treated water, the resin is approaching capacity - order replacement media.
  • Metered valve alarm The convenience signal. If your system has a metered valve programmed with a gallon target, replace when it alarms (then confirm with a test).
Don't run exhausted resin indefinitely. ASM-10-HP never dumps arsenic back into your water (unlike adsorptive media), but exhausted resin simply stops removing - your water gradually returns to its raw arsenic level. Annual testing is non-negotiable for any arsenic system.
Disposal: Spent ASM-10-HP is generally non-hazardous and landfill-safe in residential quantities, but disposal rules vary by state. Call us and we'll point you to the right guidance for your area.

The Same Resin Municipal Plants Trust, in a Residential Box

Hybrid anion exchange with iron oxide dispersed through every bead - not a coated granule that sheds and dumps.

ASM-10-HP is a chloride-form strong base anion exchange resin with hydrated iron oxide monoatomically dispersed throughout the polymer. That hybrid construction is what separates it from granular adsorptive arsenic medias: the iron oxide isn't a surface coating that can shed or exhaust unevenly, it's built into every bead. The result is exceptional arsenic capacity (500,000+ gallons per cubic foot reducing 50 ppb arsenate below the EPA's 10 ppb limit), low pressure drop from uniform spherical beads, zero particle shedding, and - most importantly - no arsenic dumping at exhaustion. Effluent arsenic never exceeds influent arsenic, even if you run the resin past its capacity. It's WQA Gold Seal certified for potable water and made in the USA by ResinTech, one of the most respected ion exchange manufacturers in the world. This is the exact media we load in our 6 GPM and 10 GPM whole-house arsenic systems, sold by the cubic foot so a resin change-out costs a fraction of a new system. Not sure if your resin is due? Test your treated water annually - when arsenic starts rising, it's time. Call or text Aidan at 800-460-5810 and he'll help you confirm fill volume, walk through the change-out, and set up a testing schedule that fits your water.

Frequently Asked Questions

One box is 1 cubic foot of resin. Our 6 GPM whole-house arsenic system (10" x 54" tank) takes 1.5 cubic feet, so order 2 boxes and keep the extra half for a future top-off, or call us about splitting. Our 10 GPM system (13" x 54" tank) takes exactly 2 boxes. For the non-backwashing Clack system or any third-party tank, call or text 800-460-5810 with your tank dimensions and we'll confirm the fill volume.

Yes - if you bought one of our tank-based whole-house arsenic removal systems, ResinTech ASM-10-HP is the exact media it shipped with. Buying the same resin keeps your system performing to its original spec: same capacity, same pressure drop, same WQA Gold Seal certification.

Most residential systems get 3 to 7 years. The variables are your raw arsenic level, daily water use, pH, silica, and sulfate. A house at 15 ppb with two people lasts far longer than a house at 45 ppb with six people. The only reliable signal is an annual lab test of your treated water - when arsenic starts rising after the system, the resin is approaching capacity.

Not in residential service. While ASM-10-HP is technically an ion exchange resin, regenerating arsenic-loaded media produces an arsenic-concentrated brine that is a hazardous waste handling problem. Residential practice (and our strong recommendation) is single-use: run the charge to capacity, replace it, and dispose of the spent resin per local guidance. Spent ASM-10-HP is generally non-hazardous in residential quantities.

Yes for most homeowners. You're unscrewing the control valve, vacuuming or pouring out the old media, rinsing the tank, funneling in the new resin, and reassembling. A wet/dry shop vac and a $15 media funnel make it a 1-2 hour job. We'll walk you through it live on the phone, including the valve-specific details for your system. If you'd rather not, any local plumber can do it - it's basic work.

Not directly. ASM-10-HP is highly effective on arsenate (As V), the most common form in oxygenated well water. Arsenite (As III) needs upstream oxidation (chlorination or aeration) to convert it to arsenate first. If your water test shows arsenite and you don't want to add oxidation equipment, look at our Pioneer cartridge system, which removes both forms directly. Call us with your test and we'll map the right setup.

Keep the box sealed in a cool, dry place (32 F to 113 F). Don't let the resin freeze and thaw repeatedly, don't store it in direct summer heat, and keep it away from salt or softener brine - chloride exposure prematurely exhausts the resin before it ever sees your water. Shelf life in proper storage is years.

Why Genuine ASM-10-HP Costs What It Costs

A resin charge is the engine of your arsenic system - this is not the place to substitute

What you get with cheap arsenic media

Generic 'arsenic media' sold online is usually granular iron oxide or coated alumina. It's cheap per bag, but capacity is a tenth (or less) of hybrid resin, it sheds fines into your plumbing, and when it exhausts it can dump captured arsenic back into your water at levels above your raw water. You'd replace it every 1-2 years and risk the exact contamination you bought it to prevent.

The Real Cost Comparison

Generic Adsorptive Media
$300 - $500 per cu ft
  • Lifespan: Fails in 3-4 years
  • Result: Frequent repairs, poor water quality, leaks
  • Support: None
Replace every 1-2 years + dumping risk
Best Long-Term Value
ResinTech ASM-10-HP
$945 per cu ft
  • Lifespan: Lasts 15+ years
  • Result: Done right the first time, peace of mind
  • Support: Lifetime USA Support
Replace every 3-7 years, no dumping

Amortized per year of safe water, genuine hybrid resin costs about the same or less than generic media - without the annual tank-opening labor and without the exhaustion-dumping risk. For the media that stands between your family and arsenic, buy the one that fails safe.

What you get with genuine ASM-10-HP

500,000+ gallons per cubic foot at 50 ppb feed - a 3-7 year service life in typical homes. No arsenic dumping at exhaustion, ever. No particle shedding. WQA Gold Seal certification for potable water. And free change-out support from real water treatment specialists, 7 days a week.

Resin orders should be boring: right volume, right media, no surprises. Call me before you order and I'll confirm exactly how many boxes your tank takes - that way the only thing you ever return is a water sample to the lab.

Solved my very high iron issues

"I had well water with over 20 ppm ferrous and 7 ppm of ferric iron, plus manganese and some sulfur. Local water companies rejected me, said they couldn't help. I purchased two Fleck 2.5 cu. ft. 2510AIO iron filter tanks with Katalox-Light. Problem solved."
