Installation Order (From Well to House)
Pressure tank (your existing tank)
Sediment filter (Big Blue housing, mounts vertically on the wall)
Carbon filter (no power, no drain needed)
UV sterilizer (requires 120V outlet, install last before house entry)
Why This Order Matters
The sediment filter catches particles that would cloud the water and reduce UV effectiveness. The carbon filter removes chlorine, taste, and odor compounds. The UV sterilizer goes last because it needs clear water to work properly. Sediment or discoloration in the water can shield bacteria from the UV light.
Electrical Requirements
Only the UV sterilizer needs power: one 120V outlet. The sediment filter and carbon filter are fully passive, no electricity and no drain line.
Space Planning
Plan for roughly 3-4 linear feet of wall space. The carbon filter tank is about 10 inches in diameter. The UV sterilizer mounts horizontally on the wall. The Big Blue housing is compact and mounts vertically.
Time Estimate
Most homeowners finish in 2-4 hours. This is one of our simplest installs since only one system needs a power connection and none need a drain line. If you hire a plumber, they can call Aidan for help.
Sediment Filter Every 3-6 months
Replace the 5-micron cartridge when flow drops or it looks dirty. Unscrew the housing with the included wrench, swap the cartridge, and reinstall. Takes about 5 minutes.
Carbon Filter Every 3-5 years
Non-backwashing carbon eventually exhausts. When taste or odor returns, replace the activated carbon media. Pour out the old media through the fillport and pour in new. No special tools needed.
UV Sterilizer Annual lamp swap
Replace the UV lamp once a year. The controller counts down lamp hours so you know when it is time. Clean the quartz sleeve during replacement. Replacement lamps available here.

Best UV Light for Well Water: Viqua VH410 Review
Why Pair UV With Carbon and Sediment Filtration?
UV Needs Clean Water to Work. This System Delivers It.
If your well water test came back positive for coliform bacteria, you need UV disinfection. UV light destroys bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms without adding chemicals to your water.
But UV alone is not enough. The sterilizer needs clear water to work properly. Sediment and dissolved organics can shield bacteria from the UV light, letting them pass through alive. That is why this system includes a Big Blue sediment pre-filter and a whole-house carbon filtration tank before the UV stage.
Three stages, in the right order, with all media included. No electricity or drain required for the sediment or carbon stages. Only the UV sterilizer needs a power outlet. Free shipping to the lower 48.

Frequently Asked Questions
If your water test shows coliform bacteria or E. coli, yes. UV is the standard treatment for bacterial contamination in private wells. It kills 99.99% of bacteria and viruses without adding chemicals to your water. If you are not sure what your test results mean, call us at 800-460-5810 and we will walk through them with you.
Two reasons. First, carbon removes taste and odor issues (chlorine if you have a chlorinator, earthy or musty taste, chemical compounds like VOCs). Second, UV needs clear water to work properly. The sediment filter catches particles and the carbon filter removes dissolved organics that could cloud the water and reduce UV effectiveness.
Yes. This is one of our simplest packages. Only the UV sterilizer needs a power outlet. Nothing needs a drain connection. Most homeowners finish in 2-4 hours. Aidan walks people through the full installation over the phone, 7 days a week. If you hire a plumber, they can call Aidan directly.
This package does not treat iron, sulfur, low pH, or hardness. If your water test shows those problems, you need additional stages. Call Aidan at 800-460-5810 with your test results and he will tell you exactly which package fits your well. We have systems that handle everything from a single problem up to the full set of well water issues.
Once a year. The Viqua VH410 controller has a built-in countdown that tells you when the lamp is due. The quartz sleeve should be cleaned during each lamp replacement. Replacement lamps are available on our site.
A replacement UV lamp runs about $80-100 per year. Sediment filter cartridges are $10-15 each and you will go through 2-4 per year depending on how much sediment your well produces. The carbon media lasts 3-5 years before it needs replacing. Overall this is one of the lowest-maintenance packages we sell.

Why a Proper UV System Costs More
Professional UV vs. Budget Amazon Kits
What You Get With Budget UV Kits
Budget UV kits on Amazon use generic UV lamps with unknown dose ratings, no sediment pre-filtration, and no carbon stage to clear the water before UV treatment. If particulate or dissolved organics cloud the water, bacteria can hide in the shadow of those particles and survive UV exposure.
Most budget kits also come with zero support. When you have a question about install order, lamp replacement, or whether your water test results actually call for UV, there is no one to call.

$0.30/day over a 20-year system life
When you factor in the professional-grade UV sterilizer, whole-house carbon tank (not a cartridge), and expert support, this system delivers better long-term value than budget alternatives that need frequent cartridge replacements and offer no help when you have questions.
What You Get With Our System
This package uses a Viqua VH410 UV sterilizer rated at 18 GPM with a validated 40 mJ/cm2 NSF 55 Class A dose, a Clack C1190 non-backwashing carbon tank with 1.5 cubic feet of activated carbon, and a Big Blue sediment pre-filter. The carbon tank lasts 3-5 years (not 3-6 months like a cartridge). The Viqua controller tracks lamp hours so you know exactly when to replace it.
You also get Aidan on the phone 7 days a week. Before you buy, during installation, and for the life of the system.

29+Success Rate
After 29+ years of selling and supporting water treatment systems, we know what works for bacterial contamination. This package pairs a professional-grade Viqua UV sterilizer with proper pre-filtration so the UV can do its job effectively. We support it because we trust it.
The Industry "Return Policy" Trap
+
Most online sellers offer a return policy that requires you to ship everything back at your expense. After paying $50-100 in return shipping, you often find a 15-25% restocking fee on top. It is designed to make returns impractical.
How Our Real Guarantee Works
1
The System Doesn't Fix Your Water
If your follow-up water test still shows bacteria after installation, that is on us. The UV should be doing its job.
2
You Call Us, We Fix It
We troubleshoot with you: water test results, install order, UV dose, flow rate, pre-filter condition. Most issues are resolved quickly.
Full Refund, No Hassle
If we cannot resolve the issue, you get a full refund. We handle the logistics. You do not ship anything back. That is the difference between a real guarantee and a return policy.
This is the system I recommend when someone calls with bacteria in their well and no iron or hardness to deal with. Sediment first, carbon second, UV last. Three stages, properly ordered, with the right pre-filtration so the UV actually works. I have helped thousands of homeowners get their wells testing clean with this exact setup.
