Whole House Arsenic Filter (Non-Backwashing, No Electricity)
Not sure which arsenic system you need?
I'm the guy in the videos. Arsenic treatment is sized from a lab number, not a guess, and the order matters: iron and pH have to be handled before the arsenic stage. Send me your well test and I'll tell you exactly which system fits, or that you don't need one yet.
Complete Non-Backwashing Arsenic Filter
- ✓ 2 cubic feet of arsenic-selective ion exchange resin - WQA Gold Seal certified hybrid anion exchange resin with hydrated iron oxide monoatomically dispersed throughout the polymer.

Contaminants Removed
✓ Arsenate (As V) - primary target
✓ Uranium (trace level)
✓ Other trace anionic contaminants
✓ Selenate (partial)
Note: arsenic in well water is most commonly arsenate (As V). If your test shows arsenite (As III), an oxidizer (chlorine or aeration) is required upstream to convert it. Call us if you're not sure which form is present.

Inline plumbing install. No drain line. No electricity. No backwash cycles. Standard plumbing skills are enough for most homeowners. Call or text us before you start - sizing and placement matter for arsenic systems.
Test your water first. Arsenic testing is critical before installing this system. We need to know your arsenic level, arsenic species (arsenate vs arsenite), pH, silica, and sulfate levels. If arsenite (As III) is present, you need an upstream oxidizer first.
Installation Steps
- Shut off the main water supply and relieve pressure at a nearby faucet.
- Install a 20" Big Blue sediment filter upstream to protect the arsenic resin from particulates - strongly recommended for any well water install, doubly so on a non-backwashing system.
- Place the system in its final location (~210 lbs loaded, on a flat solid surface). Allow ~14" x 14" footprint plus clearance for service.
- Plumb the inlet (1" male NPT, on the bypass valve) to the cold water main, downstream of any iron filter, acid neutralizer, or softener.
- Plumb the outlet (1" male NPT, on the bypass valve) to the house plumbing.
- Set the bypass to the service position.
- Slowly open the inlet, then the outlet, to fill the tank without trapping air.
- Open a downstream faucet and run for 10 - 15 minutes to flush any media fines.
- Note today's date in your records - this is your reference for periodic arsenic testing.

Arsenic resin works best on clean, conditioned water. Iron, sediment, and pH all affect capacity. Removing them upstream protects the more expensive arsenic media and extends its life.

No moving parts to maintain. The Clack C1190 head is a simple in/out service valve, no controller, no power. Maintenance is entirely about monitoring the resin via periodic water testing.
Maintenance Schedule
- Every 6 - 12 months Test your treated water for arsenic. Pull a sample after the system and send it to a certified lab. This is the single most important maintenance task on a non-backwashing system - because there is no metered alarm, periodic testing is how you know when the media is approaching capacity. We'll help you set the right interval based on your raw arsenic level.
- Every 3 - 6 months Replace the upstream sediment cartridge (if running a Big Blue pre-filter). Frequency depends on water sediment load. Critical on non-backwashing systems since the arsenic tank can't self-clean.
- When arsenic rises in test Replace the resin. Lifespan is 3 - 7 years for typical residential applications, but actual life depends on your raw arsenic level, silica, sulfate, daily water use, and the presence of competing anions. Call us when it's time and we'll help you source replacement media and walk you through the change-out.
Why testing matters more on a non-backwashing system. The metered version of this system tracks gallons used and triggers a service reminder. This non-backwashing version doesn't - so periodic arsenic testing is the only way to know when the resin is approaching capacity. Plan to test at least once a year, and more often if your raw arsenic level is above 25 ppb. Call or text 800-460-5810 and we'll help you set up the right schedule.

Off-Grid Ready Arsenic Removal
Same arsenic-selective ion exchange resin as our metered 10 GPM system, in a simpler non-backwashing package.
Arsenic in well water is a serious health issue. The EPA's maximum contaminant level is just 10 parts per billion, but levels of 50 ppb or higher are common in private wells across the country. Long-term exposure is linked to skin, bladder, and lung cancer, cardiovascular disease, and developmental issues in children. Because arsenic is invisible, tasteless, and odorless, the only way to know it's in your water is a certified lab test.
This non-backwashing whole-house arsenic filter uses the same WQA Gold Seal arsenic-selective ion exchange resin we put in our metered 10 GPM system, packaged with a Clack C1190 in/out head and bypass valve so it can be installed anywhere there's pressurized water - no electricity required, no floor drain required, no backwash cycles. The resin reduces arsenate from 50 ppb to less than 10 ppb under ideal conditions for 500,000+ gallons per cubic foot, with no arsenic dumping at exhaustion. Built on a 12 by 52 Vortech tank with 2 cubic feet of media.
This is the right choice for cabins, off-grid setups, well houses without a drain, and any install location where the cost or hassle of running power and a drain line isn't worth it. Pair it with annual arsenic testing of treated water to know when the resin is approaching capacity. Free shipping, 7-day-a-week support, real water treatment specialists with 30+ years of experience.
