Note: arsenic in well water is most commonly arsenate (As V). If your test shows arsenite (As III), an oxidizer (chlorine or aeration) is required upstream to convert it. Call us if you're not sure which form is present.

Inline plumbing install. No drain line required for normal service. Standard plumbing skills are enough for most homeowners. Call or text us before you start - sizing and placement matter for arsenic systems.
Test your water first. Arsenic testing is critical before installing this system. We need to know your arsenic level, arsenic species (arsenate vs arsenite), pH, silica, and sulfate levels. If arsenite (As III) is present, you need an upstream oxidizer first.
Installation Steps
Shut off the main water supply and relieve pressure at a nearby faucet.
Install a 20" Big Blue sediment filter upstream to protect the arsenic resin from particulates - strongly recommended.
Place the system in its final location (~220 lbs loaded, on a flat solid surface). Allow ~15" x 15" footprint plus clearance for service.
Plumb the inlet (1" male NPT) to the cold water main, downstream of any iron filter, acid neutralizer, or softener.
Plumb the outlet (1" male NPT) to the house plumbing.
Install the bypass valve in the service position.
Slowly open the inlet, then the outlet, to fill the tank without trapping air.
Open a downstream faucet and run for 10 - 15 minutes to flush any media fines.
Program the metered service reminder using your expected daily gallons (we'll help you size this on the phone).
Recommended System Order
Well→Pressure Tank→Sediment Filter→Iron Filter→Acid Neutralizer→Softener→Arsenic System (this unit)→House
Arsenic resin works best on clean, conditioned water. Iron, sediment, and pH all affect capacity. Removing them upstream protects the more expensive arsenic media and extends its life.

Set-and-forget operation. The metered control valve tracks gallons used and triggers a service reminder when the resin is approaching capacity. No daily intervention.
Maintenance Schedule
AnnuallyTest your treated water for arsenic. Pull a sample after the system and send it to a certified lab. Watch for arsenic levels rising in the treated water - that's the early warning that resin replacement is approaching.
Every 3-6 monthsReplace the upstream sediment cartridge (if running a Big Blue pre-filter). Frequency depends on water sediment load.
When metered alarm triggers OR arsenic rises in testReplace the the resin. Lifespan is 3 - 7 years for typical residential applications, but actual life depends on your raw arsenic level, silica, sulfate, daily water use, and the presence of competing anions. Call us when it's time and we'll help you source replacement media and walk you through the change-out.
As neededReprogram the gallons-per-day reminder if your household water usage changes (added bathrooms, irrigation, new family members, etc.).
Important: arsenic resin doesn't gradually degrade like carbon. the resin gives consistent removal until it approaches capacity, then breakthrough happens fairly sharply. Annual testing is the only reliable way to know when to replace media. We'll help you set up a test schedule that fits your raw arsenic level. Call or text 800-460-5810.
Ion exchange resin built specifically for arsenic - not a generic carbon or alumina media that fails when it counts.
Arsenic in well water is a serious health issue. The EPA's maximum contaminant level is just 10 parts per billion, but levels of 50 ppb or higher are common in private wells across the country. Long-term exposure is linked to skin, bladder, and lung cancer, cardiovascular disease, and developmental issues in children. Because arsenic is invisible, tasteless, and odorless, the only way to know it's in your water is a certified lab test.
This whole-house arsenic removal system uses arsenic-selective ion exchange resin, a hybrid anion exchange resin with hydrated iron oxide monoatomically dispersed throughout the polymer. WQA Gold Seal certified for potable water. Under ideal conditions it reduces 50 ppb of arsenate to less than 10 ppb for over 500,000 gallons per cubic foot of media. Even more important, the resin has no arsenic dumping at exhaustion - effluent levels never exceed influent levels, even if the resin is operated past its capacity. That single property is why we chose it over the cheaper granular adsorptive medias on the market.
Built on a 13 inch by 54 inch Vortech tank with 2 cubic feet of media, paired with a 1 inch metered control valve that tracks your gallons used and triggers a programmable service reminder. 10 GPM service flow handles whole-house demand. No electricity required for operation. Free shipping. 7-day-a-week support from real water treatment specialists with 30+ years of experience.

Frequently Asked Questions
Under ideal conditions, the arsenic-selective ion exchange resin reduces arsenate from 50 parts per billion (ppb) down to less than 10 ppb (the EPA's maximum contaminant level for arsenic in drinking water), and continues doing so for over 500,000 gallons per cubic foot of media. With 2 cubic feet of resin in this system, that's 1,000,000+ gallons of treatment capacity in typical residential conditions. Performance can be reduced by very high pH (above 8), high silica, high sulfate, or fouling from suspended solids. We recommend annual testing of your treated water to monitor performance.
Adsorptive medias (granular iron oxide, titanium-based, alumina) physically trap arsenic on the surface. They're cheaper but have a major flaw: when the media reaches capacity, arsenic can 'dump' back into your treated water at concentrations even higher than the source water. the resin is an ion exchange resin - it captures arsenic through chemical bonding, and even when operated past exhaustion, effluent arsenic levels never exceed influent levels. There is no arsenic dumping. the resin also has higher throughput, lower pressure drop, and doesn't shed particles like coated granular medias do. For something as serious as arsenic, ion exchange is the right call.
the resin is highly effective on arsenate (As V), which is the most common form of arsenic in well water with any oxygen present. Arsenite (As III) is a different chemical form that is not removed effectively by ion exchange resins in their native state. If your water test shows arsenite (or speciation isn't listed), we recommend pre-oxidation with chlorine or aeration to convert arsenite to arsenate before this system. Most aerated well water and city water is already in the arsenate form. Call us with your test results and we'll verify whether you need an upstream oxidation step.
Most residential installations get 3 to 7 years of service life from the resin. Actual lifespan depends on your raw arsenic concentration, daily water usage, competing anions (silica, sulfate), and pH. The system's metered control valve tracks your gallons used and triggers a programmable service reminder. Independent of that, we recommend annual testing of treated water - because ion exchange resin gives consistent removal until it approaches capacity, then breakthrough happens relatively sharply. Annual testing catches the change in time. When it's time to replace media, call us and we'll help you source replacement the resin and walk you through the change-out.
Yes, strongly recommended. Sediment, particulates, and debris can foul the arsenic resin, reducing its effective capacity and potentially causing channeling. A 20" Big Blue sediment filter installed upstream is inexpensive, easy to maintain (cartridge changes every 3-6 months), and protects the more expensive arsenic media. We sell the Big Blue kit separately.
Iron can foul the arsenic resin and reduce its capacity. If your water has more than 0.3 ppm of iron, install an iron filter upstream of this arsenic system. We carry several iron filter options. Send us your water test and we'll recommend the right combination of equipment and the correct installation order. The general sequence is: sediment, then iron, then acid neutralizer (if pH is low), then softener (if hard), then arsenic. Each step protects the next.
Yes. The plumbing is straightforward - 1" male NPT inlet and outlet, with the bypass valve included for service access. No electrical hookup is needed for service operation. Most homeowners with basic plumbing skills can do this in a few hours. The most important things to get right are sizing (do you need a 6 GPM or 10 GPM unit), placement order in the treatment train, and pre-oxidation if you have arsenite. Call or text Aidan at 800-460-5810 before you order and he'll walk you through your specific situation.
Lead/lag means two arsenic systems plumbed in series. The first vessel (the lead) does the bulk of arsenic removal. The second vessel (the lag) acts as a polishing stage that catches anything the lead misses. When the lead resin is exhausted, you swap their positions - the old lag becomes the new lead, and you replace the resin in the old lead vessel. This setup gives uninterrupted protection (you never have unfiltered arsenic-bearing water reach the house) and maximizes media utilization. For homes with arsenic levels above 30 ppb or where exposure is a critical concern, we recommend lead/lag. Call us to discuss.
Yes. Always. We will not knowingly sell an arsenic system to someone who hasn't tested. The reason: arsenic systems require accurate sizing based on your arsenic concentration, your daily water use, and the presence of competing anions like silica and sulfate. They also require knowing the arsenic species (arsenate vs arsenite) so we can recommend pre-oxidation if needed. Order our well water test kit or use any NELAC/ELAP certified lab and send us the results. We'll personally review and confirm the right system for your situation.

Why Our Arsenic System Costs More
Ion exchange vs adsorptive media - not all arsenic filters are equal
What you get with budget arsenic filters
Cheap arsenic filters use granular adsorptive media - typically iron oxide coated alumina or titanium-based granules. They're inexpensive because the media itself is cheap to manufacture, but they have a serious flaw: when the media reaches capacity, arsenic can 'dump' back into your treated water at concentrations higher than the source water.
Most budget systems also have low capacity per cubic foot (10,000 - 100,000 gallons compared to 500,000+ for the resin), so you're replacing media every year or two. There's typically no metering, no service reminder, and no expert support. You're on your own to figure out when the media is exhausted - which means you may be drinking arsenic-laden water for months without knowing.

Replace media every 3-7 years, no arsenic dumping
Over a 10-year period, factoring in media replacement, monitoring, and the safety of no arsenic dumping, this system costs significantly less per year than a budget filter that needs media every 18 months and risks dumping. For something as serious as arsenic in your family's drinking water, the difference between ion exchange and adsorptive media isn't a spec sheet detail - it's whether your filter actually keeps you safe.
